A Tiny Gift of Gratitude
When Hurricane Ian struck, it tore down nearly every tree in our community. A day or two after the storm ended, I watched with heartbreak as all the birds who nested in our trees returned to find their nests were destroyed and their homes gone. A small but heartfelt gesture was all I could do as my own home was damaged but still standing. I began to put some bird feeders out, so my winged brothers and sisters had some nourishment. As they timidly began to approach, I would sing and talk to them, which seemed to calm them and make them feel safe. I expected nothing in return, as what could a bird possibly do to help me?
To my surprise, one day as I was returning to the spot to refill the feeder, I Iooked down and saw, in the middle of the mulch, a single, perfect shell. 🐚 It was a gift from of my regular visitors, whom I nicknamed, The Captain- a majestic Crow, who was a bit of a watcher, calling out to his flock when he saw me walking to the feeder. With this small token of gratitude, I experienced both a sense of connection with my winged brothers and sisters and Oneness with Creator. So yes, even though I never expected it, that day I was helped by a bird, and my heart was forever changed. Thats him below. 👇🏻 #oneness#connection#creator#kindness#crow #love
